F1 news: Nikita Mazepin has seized £88m worth of property

Formula One brat Nikita Mazepin has had £88million of his property seized in Italy.

Authorities have seized properties owned by Russian former racer Mazepin and his oligarch father, according to Reuters. The operation, known as Rocky Ram, is part of a larger effort to penalize wealthy Russians with supposed ties to war aggressor Vladimir Putin.

Mazepin was sacked last month by the American-owned F1 team Haas and was even included in an EU sanctions list with his father. Italian authorities are carrying out tough measures on those on the EU sanction list that was imposed following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine on February 24.

Following the news of his dismal, Mazepin posted a message to his 500k followers last month. He said: “Dear fans and followers, I am very disappointed to hear that my F1 contract has been terminated. While I understand the difficulties, the ruling from the FIA plus my ongoing willingness to accept the conditions proposed in order to continue were completely ignored and no process was followed in this unilateral step.

“To those of you who have tried to understand, my enteral thanks. I have treasured my time in F1 and genuinely hope we can all be together again in better times. I will have more to say in the coming days.”
